There are moments that quietly shake your heart. Not because they are loud or dramatic, but because they remind you, with painful clarity, how limited your own planning really is, and how vast the mercy and precision of Allah truly are.
In December 2025, Roots Academy held an in-person seminar called Anchored by the Qur’an, a study of Surah Baqarah by Shaykh Shaybani. It was a class focused on helping students build a practical and grounded relationship with the Qur’an in their daily lives.
A few days before one of these classes, a sister messaged us on Instagram asking about tickets. At that point, everything was sold out. She explained that she was travelling from Denmark specifically for this class and needed to know if there was even the slightest possibility of attending. Flights, time off work, and logistics all depended on that answer.
Not long after, we announced that the class would be moving to a larger venue. We told her to stay ready, just in case. Even then, the obstacles felt heavy. Ticket prices were high. Flight times didn’t align. She starts work at 9am on Monday morning, which made a Sunday evening class in London feel almost impossible. On top of that, it was the holiday season, and she was worried about her visa. She had been told approvals could take three to five days, sometimes longer.
The obstacles
Tickets were sold out
Flight prices were high and timings clashed
9am work start the following Monday morning
Holiday season visa concerns — told it could take three to five days
From any logical perspective, this was a closed door.
But instead of walking away, she turned to Allah.
She performed the prayer of guidance (Istikhara), asking Allah to make the journey easy if it was good for her, and to remove it from her path if it wasn’t. She did what we are all taught to do, yet often forget when things feel inconvenient. She trusted that Allah sees what we cannot, and that He never calls a servant towards something without also carrying them towards it.
Then, almost quietly, things began to change.
Obstacles removed
Flight prices dropped
Timings that once clashed suddenly worked
A ticket became available
Her visa, despite being told it could take days due to the holiday period, was approved in just fifteen minutes
Soon after, she was in London, sitting in the Anchored by the Qur’an seminar, listening and learning about the in depth study of Surah Baqarah.
Qur’an 65:3
“…And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him….”
When you reflect on predestination, you realise something humbling. We don’t fall through the net of Allah. What Allah has written reaches us, even if the entire world seems to suggest otherwise.
When Allah opens a door, no human calculation can keep it closed.
When we later asked her why she was so determined to come, her answer was simple and sincere: the teacher and the knowledge.
In her town, there are very few people with sound teaching or proper grounding. Her Qur’an journey has been slow, not because of a lack of effort, but because of limited access. Still, she continues to search, to strive, to show up for Allah in whatever way she can.
And Allah sees that.
After the session ended at 9pm on Sunday, she didn’t go home to rest. She went straight to the airport for her 6am flight back to Denmark. She knew she would travel through the night, exhausted, carrying the weight of sleep deprivation into the next day, but she needed to be back in time for work the following morning.
This is what seeking knowledge often looks like. Not comfort. Not ease. But sincerity.
Later, she shared a reflection on her experience:
Her words
“For me, it was really important to find a space where I could reconnect with my faith in a way that felt genuine and practical.
I felt there was a gap between what we learn and how we actually apply it in everyday life, especially as young people living here. This gave me the opportunity to reflect, ask questions, and really think about how Islam fits into my daily routine.
What I appreciated most was the environment. It felt welcoming, non-judgemental, and supportive. I didn’t feel pressured, and I felt comfortable being honest about where I was at in my journey.
It helped me build consistency and gave me tools I could actually use, rather than just information. I also really valued the sense of community. Knowing that others were on a similar path made a big difference.”
Her story is a reminder that sincerity is never wasted with Allah. Every step taken towards knowledge, every sacrifice made for His sake, every night made uncomfortable for the sake of growth, is written and preserved.
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”

Sometimes that path looks like a long night in an airport. Sometimes it looks like a visa approval in fifteen minutes. Sometimes it looks like a heart that simply refuses to give up.
Stories like hers sit at the heart of Roots Academy.
We believe that access to sound, grounded Islamic knowledge should not be limited by geography, background, or circumstance. Too many sincere people want to learn, to grow, and to reconnect with Allah, but feel held back by lack of access, confidence, or safe spaces. Our aim is to bridge that gap.
Roots Academy is about more than classes. It is about creating environments where people feel welcomed, supported, and able to ask questions without judgement. It is about translating sacred knowledge into something that can be lived, practiced, and carried into daily life. It is about consistency over perfection, and sincerity over performance.
This sister’s journey from Denmark is not just a story about travel. It is a reminder that when knowledge is made accessible, hearts move towards it. That when spaces are built with sincerity, Allah places blessing within them. And that when a servant takes even a small step towards Allah, Allah brings them the rest of the way.
When Allah plans something for a servant, no distance can block it.
No exhaustion can undo it.
And no sincere effort made for His sake is ever wasted.
