A concise journey through the life of the greatest man to walk the earth with a focus on personal transformation. Drawing from how the Prophet Muhammad (s) navigated the various political, personal, financial, and other challenges he faced.

Spiritual revival takes you on a practical journey developing habits and a deeper understanding of daily rituals such as Salah and dhikr. You will also develop a morning and evening routine starting small and developing a 10 minute routine.

Quran

Many of us have listened to, read, or memorized portions of the Qur’an – but have we ever truly understood it? This course delivers a concise explanation and contemplation on the meanings of 23 short chapters from the Qur’an. It also discusses the history of revelation, how the Qur’an can be understood, and what tools are employed to explain the Qur’an’s meanings.

Fiqh

Should you combine your prayers when travelling? What do you do if you break your fast by mistake? Do you have to pay zakah on a student loan? We all want to understand the practicalities of practical Islamic law related to prayer, purity, fasting and zakah. This course takes us through the basics of those guidelines, giving us a practical understanding of how to apply Islam in our 21st century contexts. Eventually, we aim to represent all four schools of Islamic jurisprudence, but will start with releasing one this year.

Adab

Developing human character was one of the Prophet Muhammad’s (s) greatest objectives. This course covers spiritual character development such as eliminating envy, hatred, self-admiration, and showing-off, as well as the basics of practical conduct, manners, and dealing with relationships.

Dhikr & Du’a

Spiritual revival takes you on a practical journey developing habits and a deeper understanding of daily rituals such as Salah and dhikr. Students will learn about the meanings of words said in the five daily prayers and its inner dimensions. They will also develop their own morning and evening routine of remembering and connecting to Allah, starting small and developing a 10 minute routine over the four weeks.

In addition, how Muslims of all backgrounds were united and developed over time to become the beacons of civilization.

Shaykh Muhammad Shafi Chowdhury

Shaykh Muhammad Shafi Chowdhury graduated from one of the oldest Islamic seminaries in the UK where he studied Islamic sciences with Isnad (unbroken chains of transmission to classical masters) in the fields of Qur’anic recitations and exegesis, Hadith studies and narration of the six canonical texts, Fiqh, Aqeedah, and Arabic Language.

 

He has been involved in extensive community work and teaching maintaining an open minded approach and building bridges between communities. He is an easy to approach scholar that works at grass-roots level.

Mustafa Razzak

Mustafa completed his Pharmacy degree from Aston University, a BA in Islamic Law from the European Institute of Human Sciences, and an MA in Islamic Studies from Newman University. His classical Islamic studies have been mainly with scholars in the UK. 

Shaikh-Zahed-Fettah-copy

Shaikh Zahed Fettah

Zahed completed his LLB Law degree from the University of Birmingham, a BA in Sharī’ah Law from the European Institute of Human Sciences, and an MA in Islamic Studies from Newman University. He then completed two years of specialisation in Usūl al-Iftā in the Ḥanafī legal school. His classical Islamic studies were mainly with scholars in the UK and Algeria, and he holds ijāzahs in various books of Aqīdah, Hadīth, Fiqh, and other Islamic sciences. He is currently a teacher and researcher in Islamic Studies.

Hisham Jafar Ali

Roots Academy’s first instructor. He is the Muslim Chaplain at the University of Nottingham and has been teaching Arabic & Islamic studies for the last 7 years. Having studied Arabic and the Islamic Sciences in the UAE, he received a higher license and ijazah (traditional licenses) to teach various Islamic sciences.
